Marriage Minute March 24, 2019

Matthew 20:25-28 “But Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great one’s exercise authority over them. It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”

In successful and blessed marriages, you will find two people that have learned how to serve each other. The couple learned to look out for the best interests of one another. When spouses do this, they are displaying the character of Jesus who came not to be served but to serve. This kind of love for one another may take some time for couples to master.  However in God’s economy serving the other person is actually more important than serving ourselves, and when both spouses do this, wow!

Philippians 2:4 “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”

Husband and Wife Prayer: Lord, help us be your servants, create a desire in us to serve one another in love.
