Marriage Minute 4-7-2019

1 Peter 2:17 “Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.”

1 Peter 3:7 “Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.”

As Christians, men and women are to honor everyone. Love our brothers and sisters in Christ. Yet much more your spouse since you are heirs together. If a man doesn’t honor his bride, his prayers may be hindered.

What does honor look like to your bride? Honor basically means to attach high value, worth or importance. Besides your relationship with God, is there anyone or anything more important than your wife. Does your wife feel special, highly prized, valued by you, her husband? If you’re not sure, will you ask her?

Men, our jobs, our hobbies, or toys, can be of more value to us than our wives; let that not be so.

Prayer for Husband and Wife: Lord, please help us to honor everyone, especially each other.
