Marriage Minute 5-26-2019

Ecclesiastes 5:4 “When you make a vow to God, do not delay paying it, for He has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you vow.”

At the marriage altar, Christians recite a similar vow to God, in front of their family, friends and minister. “Will you, ________, have ________ to be your husband/wife? Will you love him/her, comfort and keep him/her, and forsaking all others remain true to him/her as long as you both shall live?””

That vow to “forsake all others” is established by being committed to listening to your spouse’s feelings and emotions.    Forsaking others essentially means that you are building and maintaining a unique relationship with each other that no other person could compare.

Husband or wife, don’t let the devil fool you.  We need to have open communication by listening to your spouse’s struggles and temptations.  Don’t let Satan cause a wedge by not communicating. You made a vow to God to honor your mate above all others.

A spouse, who’s insecure, needs your reaffirming love and support.  Stay true to your vow before God to love and comfort your spouse above all others.
