Marriage Minute 11-17-2019 Communication with God.   Mark 12:29-31 Edited article from the “Love Language Minute” by Gary Chapman

The fundamental building block of any relationship is conversation – two-way communicating of sharing ideas and listening.   We understand each other if we continue to keep communication over a period of time. Why then is communication so difficult?  Why do 86% of those who divorce say, “the main problem was; we got to a place where we just couldn’t talk”?

One problem is that we stop talking to God long before we stop talking to each other. If a person will talk to God daily, the ability to make better thoughts and attitudes towards your spouse is a result. God has clearly said that He wants to have us more and more like Jesus. (see Romans 8:29).  When a person participates with God, our communication with others and especially our spouse flow pretty smoothly. However, when we get our wires crossed with God, then our attitude with our spouse begins to deteriorate.

The process of deterioration is not a coincidence, in Mark 12 Jesus said the most important commandments were (1) Love God wholeheartedly and (2) love others as our self.  When we love God and are in tune with what He wants, loving others will come supernaturally.
